It's been a long time since I posted. My job has consumed me this year and kept my time posting things to a min. Hope everybody is having a great growing season! I have luckily found some time to keep up with the yard. We had a mild winter and are having a good growing season. Because of the mild winter (one night in the 30s), my coconut had time to recover from the prior year freeze.

After 4 years in the ground, it got its first inflorescence (4 actually). 3 of the 4 have opened. This means the coconut is a Malayan as they fruit with approx. 2-3 feet of trunk.

Coco is great. So lush in Florida..look at those lichens on the dwarf Date palms!
I'm going to make a tiny greenhouse for my Crotons. It survived the last winter on my porch..juuuuuust barely. Its still not growing full sized leafs.
Like the Bottle palm too. They don't get much greener and fresh looking then that.

Congratulations on your first coconuts PJ. That's pretty awesome. Sorry work has kept you that busy, but I'm always glad to hear when a fellow gardener has had a mild winter.

Wow! That's looking so good now! Your tropical landscape is really maturing. Love the Bottle Palm. Now you need to find room for a mango! Try Pickering, Neelum, Carrie, Cogshall, Nam Doc Mai, Angie, or one of the smaller varieties. I hear there's nothing like a tree-ripened mango. And there are so many good varieties that never make their way into the grocery store.

Ah. You answered a question I was about to ask: Foxtail is the palm I wanted to know the name of. I'll make a separate post about a question I have on those.
