Back then, if you missed a day, you missed a lot.
I think a couple of things doomed the board. The personal squabbles, of course, and the very old-school tech of this board. The tech handicap never bothered me, but I know it was a pet peeve of some of our past members.
For those reasons, people left. And that itself pushed still more people away. This was perceived as a dying board, so it became a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I still check in because I learned so much here about growing palms where palms aren't supposed to be. The collective knowledge that I found here saved me from making mistakes that would've probably resulted in more plant fatalities than I actually had. Plus, I got a free palm from Phil Benion, remember him?
