It seems like the number and frequency of posters here at this Board has dwindled fairly dramatically over the past 10 years. I wonder why? I remember learning a great deal from the Atlanta guys (one of whom passed away a few years ago) and the Raleigh crowd.

I do recall at least some acrimony between posters that may have caused some folks to retreat. That’s a shame, especially since the interest in Hardy Palms is seemingly stronger than ever.

I've been here since 2006/2007.

Back then, if you missed a day, you missed a lot.

I think a couple of things doomed the board. The personal squabbles, of course, and the very old-school tech of this board. The tech handicap never bothered me, but I know it was a pet peeve of some of our past members.

For those reasons, people left. And that itself pushed still more people away. This was perceived as a dying board, so it became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I still check in because I learned so much here about growing palms where palms aren't supposed to be. The collective knowledge that I found here saved me from making mistakes that would've probably resulted in more plant fatalities than I actually had. Plus, I got a free palm from Phil Benion, remember him?

A lot of bickering and feuding caused some people to leave. Others just left for other forums that had more to offer.

I always enjoyed visiting this board. I gained a lot of knowledge from the people who posted here. I considered everyone on this board a friend. Many of you have visited my place. This board could be a little difficult to post a pic sometimes, but it was always worth the effort. I wish everyone the very best.

I have been here a long time too. I remember the background board color change, when Gary H. from N.C. used to post, etc. I have learned so much from this board, and we had so many posters at one time. As someone wrote in an earlier post, there was a time where if you missed visiting this website you had a lot of catching up to do.

I still lurk on this board. Hardy Palms in Temperate Zones Forum has more activity, but I do long for the days when we had numerous posters on here.

For a person like me who doesn't frequent the traditional social media sites a lot, I prefer a board like this.

I check in from time to time but will admit it's very rare. I think my reason was that no one was that interested in what I had to offer the group.Also due to the fact of failing health slowed my gardening quite a bit.
