The only edibles I grew were figs.
My tree produced a truck full, but they were of poor quality due to the soggy late summer we had. I probably ate 4 or 5 of them. They were disgustingly mushy and watery. In my experience, you need good rain until August 1st, then 1 - 1.5" per month in August and September.
All my non-edibles did really well.
