Enjoy reading your posts and saw Tropical Storm Zeta went through your area. Hope all things did well.
My post to Jane, was the most tropical region. You do bring up a strong case of comparison. I was born in San Antonio and went to college at Brownsville right after High School and I'm familiar with the tip of Texas. I graduated college in South Florida at Nova Southeastern University and lived there for 11 years so I'm familiar with SE FL also.
I do remember killing frost and freezes in both locations and maybe the most severe being in the Rio Grande area years ago.
Brownsville is more arid and lacks the rainfall seen in SE FL. This can be helpful in plant survival but according to the link below, Vero Beach seems to squeak past Brownsville every so lightly and considered by some as better. South in the Vero Beach region is Ft.Lauderdale and Miami and it would be a hard task to out do them.
