Sometimes the “regular“ Chamaerops Humilis is rated “Half-Hardy in Zone 8a” (akin to the Windmill Palm being “Half-Hardy in Zone 7a”). Not a bad assessment; meaning if you don’t mind them struggling some winters and looking bad some springs, they probably won’t croak in your locale.
My favorite Palm reference book, Odenwald & Turner’s text “Plants in the Southern Landscape” actually rated the Med Palm as a Zone 9 plant. That is not far off, as they really don’t like temps below 17 degrees (and don’t like damp winter environments like we have in the Southeast).
