That last picture is really an interesting leaf formation...
I wonder if the blades fuzing together is an adaptation
for cold concentrating the sugars of the leaves more in
the center near the mid-rib.
Because it almost reminds me of a Pindo palm a little with
the leaf shape..which reminds me as much of a feather as it
does a fan.
