Looking great and lots of space Ben! I don't know what to tell you about the needles. The only help I can offer is that they LOVE the clay soil here. I'm assuming that means wet ground. I don't have to water them after first planting. I guess the clay retains enough and it rains enough. I don't use any fertilizer or amend the soil in any way and I have never seen needles grow faster.
