Poor Queen Sofia has lost a lot of her close circle in a very short time. One positive outcome for her may be that all three of her children supported her at the memorial service of her first cousin. I hope that means the rift among her children is closing. Im not assuming Felipe wants either of his sisters to play a role in representing the monarchy, but it would be good if the family can close ranks around their matriach in these difficult times for her.

She was a Spanish citizen since 2018. She was stripped of her Greek. Ationality in the 90’s , like the rest of the Royal Family.
She will be buried at Tatoi. There will be a ceremony at the Orthodox cathedral of Madrid on Saturday and the burial will be on Monday. That’s what I have read, but let’s see.

Was Princess Irene still a citizen of Greece at the time of her death? Was she stripped of her title by the Greek government much like her brother's descendants were (according to another poster who told me over on the Scandi Royals Board that they don't have Greek passports anymore unless they accept the government's terms). Will they have her interred in Greece or in Spain?
