Recently a friend called my attention to the exhibition held on the Library of the House of Bragança in Vila Viçosa, celebrating the 160th birthday of Queen D. Amélia, our last "de factu" Queen.
The exhibition opened last year in September and was not much publicized. In September I was abroad and didn't take notice of it.
Looking forward to a next visit to Vila Viçosa in Alentejo.

The exhibition counts several personal objects from D.Amélia, many of them were kept at the Library and the Palace of Vila Viçosa.
Around 200 items are on display, including two royal robes, paintings, watercolours, private objects and photos .
Both D.Amélia and D.Carlos were renowned painters and shared their artistic passion.
The exhibition proposes the revist of D.Amélia, not only as the Queen, but also as the mother, the wife, the woman, the artist, philantropist and patron showing her role in the cultural and intelectual life of her time.
