Juan Filiberto Gomez-Acebo y de Borbon, died this Monday.
He was the second child and first son of the late Infanta Pilar de Borbon and her husband Luis Gomez-Acebo, viscount de la Torre.
He was one of the more discrete sons of Infanta Pilar and lived for some time in the USA where he married the american Winston Carney, the mother of his only son Nicolas.
The couple divorced and, after several partners, he settle with Teresa Verez Estenson, an architect which he introduced to the family last Spring on the occasion of his youngest brother Fernando funeral.
Apparently Juan had travelled for Fernando's funeral, and, having felt ill, he underwent some exams and was diagnosed with cancer.
He died in Palma de Mallorca, surrounded by his partner Teresa and sister Simonetta.
Queen Sofia, who was on holidays in Palma, attended the hospital to comfort her nephew's family.
His funeral will take place this week in Madrid and he will rest in the family pantheon in San Isidro cemetery.
Juan Filiberto was supposed to be close to his cousin King Felipe and there is some speculation whether he will attend the funeral.
King Juan Carlos, if he is in Spain, will probably attend as he did in April to Fernando's funeral.
Difficult times fot the Gomez-Acebo family who lost two brothers in 8 months.
RIP
