Re: At Last !!!!!
For those who remember the Palácio da Pena under the directorship of Zé Carneiro in the eighties and nineties, a visit now is quite disappointing. Before it looked very much a lived-in house with teacups on the table. Now it's more of a warehouse with left over furniture....
In Sintra, you've probably already visited Palácio da Pena and Palácio da Vila, the one with the big twin chimneys.
A tip: Chalet da Condessa, the wooden Chalet built by D.Fernando II for his 2nd wife, the Countess of Edla, in the middle of the Pena Park. https://visitsintra.travel/pt/visitar/monumentos/chalet-e-jardins-da-condessa-dedla
I assume you came by car.
Next time, get out of the motorway and stop at Alcobaça for D.Pedro I and Ines de Castro (she was galician, after all) and Batalha, not of good memory for the spanish . https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosteiro_de_Alcoba%C3%A7a https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosteiro_da_Batalha
Let’s see if it is finally true.
I had plans to visit it last November, but…
But I visited the palace, anyway, as well as Queluz and Mafra.
