He decided to change his name.
In an interview in PdV he claims once again his republicanism and (after all these years ) realises that the family name is Bonaparte and not Napoléon, so he decided to change it.
So, goodbye Charles Napoléon, hello Charles Bonaparte.
When did it become ‘Napoléon’ and why? I think I did read about it before but I’ve forgotten the details — was the civil name also not Napoléon-Bonaparte at some point?
