I would respectfully suggest a humble open_mindedness exercise doing a bit of impartial research on the real Spain and the average people and their lives during those times. Documentation material and bibliography on the matter is endless nowadays. R.
Sorry if you felt offended. My intention was simply to comment on the general instability of the Spanish State for the last 200 years, not to canonize Franco.
Please also understand: I may have worked with a bunch of socialists in Madrid; but most of my Spanish friends are Opus Dei members from military families. So, saying a good thing or two about Franco around them is never controversial.
