But although many European royals are covered, through Johann George II, Prince of Anhalt-Dessau (Jan Willem Friso's grandfather), many more are missing -- e.g. France (both royal and imperial), Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Russia, Prussia, Hanover.
Members of these houses, however, are descended from Princess Elizabeth Stuart of England and Scotland (daughter of King James I/VI) -- the so-called "Winter Queen of Bohemia." She is also a direct ancestor to nine of the ten reigning European royals, the exception being Prince Albert II of Monaco.
But it has been stated that both he and Prince Leka II of the Albanians descend from the famous Catholic monarchs of Spain, who (like Jan Willem Friso) are direct ancestors to all ten reigning monarchs of Europe. And I would imagine that Ferdinand and Isabella are also ancestors to all the non-reigning royals descended from the Winter Queen.
So does all this, then, mean these famous joint rulers of Spain are the nearest common ancestors to all the European royals excepting the Montenegrins? No doubt a number of mediatized houses also descend from Ferdinand and Isabella ...
