There are quite a few errors in this purported genealogy, including several missing generations. Firstly "Princess Janet" did not exist, she was "Lady Annabella of Scotland" (the use of Princess was not customary at this time) and George Gordon was her 2nd not 3rd husband and she was his 2nd wife - it is not certain that Adam was her son, he may have been the son of George Gordon's 3rd wife (both his 1st and 2nd marriages were conveniently annulled on grounds of consanguinity, although the relationship claimed in each case sas quite distant). So Lady Annabella may have only been the parents of his elder two children, Adam being a 3rd. But assuming he was her son, Alexander Gordon was Earl of Sutherland by resignation of his mother and father (the latter being Earl suo uxoris), even though he pre-deceased his mother, so the later numeration in some sources is therefore wrong. Sir Robert Gordon of Gordonstoun's daughter was not "Lady" Catherine, but Katherine, known as the White Rose of Scotland, and did not have a son Andrew, by David Barclay, but a son John (born 1659) who married as his 2nd wife Cornelia van Schaick and by her had an only son (his 2nd son) Thomas Barclay (1664-1734 who emigrated to America and died in Albany New York) who married Anna Dorothea Dranyer, and were the parents of (inter alia) Andrew Barclay (born in Albany, New York 1719 and died there in 1755) and who married Helena Roosevelt (a 2nd cousin of the ancestor of Theodore Roosevelt), and parents of Sarah Ann Barclay (1745-1806) who married Anthony Lispenard, and were parents of Sarah Lispenard (1783-1831) who married Alexander L. Stewart and were parents of Lispenard Stewart who married an heiress, Mary Rogers Rhinelander (a sugar and trading fortune, the Rhinelander mansion is today the home of Calvin Klein's main NY store - the family were large NY city landowners), and were the parents of (inter alia) William Rhinelander Stewart 1852-1925 (whose sister Stephanie married John Trevor and built a magnificent town house on 90th street), who married Annie McKee Armstrong (famously divorced and remarried twice more) and were parents of (inter alia) Anita who after her husband's death married Lewis Gouverneur Morris (1883-1967), whose famous ancestor Gouverneur Morris was a signatory of the declaration of independence and articles of the US Constitution to which he wrote the pre-amble: " We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,[note 1] promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
