Diane is rumoured to have had an affair with two Spaniards 9 months before the birth of her youngest daughter Fleur. Juan Carlos was said to be one of the two men.
I believe Sofia may have softened her opinion of Diane after the tragic death of her eldest son and realising that her husband straying behaviour wasn't caused by Diane and did not stop after Diane. The Duchess of Wurtemberg will probably never be one of Sofia's favourite people but she isn't that vindictive or petty.
Indeed, only Juan Carlos, Fleur's godfather, was present (being, with not much surprise, the most proeminent guest).
Any idea where does this enmity between Sofía and Diane come from?
Indeed it is Diane of Wûrttemberg. Queen Sophia did not attend to the wedding of Fleur;
Isn't the relation with Diane of Württemberg, Béatrice's sister-in-law, which is not the best?
Maybe in deference to the Dowager Duchess of Calabria, the late Count's sister, Queen Sofía thought it was appropriate to be present.
Queen Sofía's parents seemed to be close to the late Count's parents so, I wonder if she wasn't herself close to Prince Henri since those years before the fall of the Greek monarchy.
I believe that Queen Sophia has a good relationship with Beatrice d'Orléans but not with one of Beatrice's sister in law.
I was surprised to see Queen Sofia attending this funeral, especially considering she does not like the Orleans. I do not if reliable, but I have read that she was to attend with King Juan Carlos, bit he did not show up. Infanta Pilar would have been a good option, but she is having some health problems. She attended the funeral of the late Countess of Paris.
I'm surprised not to see the Duke of Braganza or Prince Michael of Greece. And also such a high representation from the Spanish RF especially Queen Sofía.
Kinda surprised not to see more representatives from the Balkan RF's - other than Prince Lela - normally the non - reigning families seem to stick together
At the time of the CoP's death it was reported that his wife Pss. Micaela was hospitalized.
No news about the causes or if she was able to return home.
Among the presents, it was reported that the Count's first wife, the Duchess of Montpensier, mother of his children, attended the funeral.
