Yes, well put, José - and I agree with you. What puzzles me is it seems incredible that Anita, in order to gain American citizenship for herself and her children, would have been required by US officials to communicate a renunciation to the Duke of Braganza regarding titles associated with what was now a republic that no longer dealt in matters of royal titles. I would have thought some renunciation of foreign titles and honors addressed directly to American authorities would have sufficed. This is why I am so curious as to whether a renunciation from Anita and her children was ever actually communicated to the House of Braganza, and when it became effective.
