In the instances given in these early messages regarding Queens being both a reigning monarch as well as a consort to a reigning monarch means that the opposite is true as well. One example is about Mary, queen of Scots. She was a reigning monarch in Scotland while at the same time married to the reigning monarch of France and thus being his wife she also was the Consort Queen of France. Therefore, her husband, being King of France, married to Queen Mary of Scotland was also Consort to the monarch of that country. In England, Mary II was consort to her husband King William the III where as he served as consort to his wife the reigning Queen of England. There is a change involved regards the titles of these male consorts. King of their own country while a consort prince in his wife's realm.
