The duke of Arenberg is also a prince (both of the Holy Roman Empire), and because of their "ancienneté" the princes and dukes of Arenberg outrank all the other heads of mediatised houses – which was recognized in several orders of precedence.

Does someone know, if there was a ranking within the "Princes et Ducs du Salon Bleu" (which are still mentioned in offical lists of protocol) with a reliable source?

The Belgian decision of 1923 to recognize the assumed "Altesse" for the Prince of Ligne seems strange to me.
