Just curious why after the title of Emperor/Empress of India no longer existed the crown wasn't dismantled. Historical significance I suppose.
Wikipedia can be troublesome, but in this case there are primary sources cited. One can always look through those books and articles. I think a short history of that crown is included in biographies of George V and Mary.
When George V and Queen Mary attended the Durbar in India, George wore what was called the Imperial Crown of India. It was made for this event and now sits in the Tower of London amongst the other royal crown regalia. Is it ever used now?
No, it was only used once, as noted on the Wikipedia article about the crown: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Crown_of_India#Usage
