In current times, there appear to be many fewer reigning titles than, say, a century ago. Now, we have kings and queens who reign, grand dukes, and princes. And there is a Guardian of the Crown in one country. Are there others? What is the proper way to address these people?
Are Serbia and Montenegro the only European states with a crown prince who will not succeed to the throne as a reigning monarch under current circumstances?
I have eye problems, thus I ask.
Current Kings and Queens are addressed "Your Majesty" and so are some former Kings - King Juan Carlos of Spain, King Simeon of Bulgary and King Constantine of the Hellenes (Greece). The Grandduke of Luxembourg is a "Royal Highness". The Crown Princes of Serbia and Montenegro are styled "Your Royal Highness". That goes for members of other former Kingdoms as well. The Sovereign Princes of Monaco and Liechtenstein are addressed "Your Serene Highness". The claimant to the defunct Russian throne would be addressed "Your Imperial Highness". I believe that the claimant to the Austrian and Hungarian thrones are addressed "Your Imperial and Royal Highness". And the Pope is addressed "Your Holiness".
