Slight factual error: Princess Catharine-Amalia should become the fourth queen regnant in Dutch history, not fifth. Her predecessors were Wilhelmina, Juliana, and Beatrix. Emma was only a queen REGENT: although she exercised all the constitutional powers and functions of a sovereign for eight years, she was no more an official queen regnant of the Netherlands than (say) Maria Cristina (who was the same age) was the queen regnant of Spain.
Has anyone taken notice of the European thrones which will soon be occupied by queens? Sweden will be having a queen reigning over it. The dutch will have their 5th reigning queen someday. Belgium will have a queen, it's first. Spain's heir is a lovely young lady who someday will be the reigning queen. Romania now has a "queen" and the heir is currently a woman.
Albania's crown prince has a daughter who might someday reign if her father becomes king. I think Montenegro's prince has a son to succeed him. Reigning males seem to be in the immediate future for the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, and Luxembourg.
