No that is not what i meant.
The style of HRH and the title prince(ss) of Belgium can be transmitted in the male and female line of Albert II to children and grandchildren of the monarch.
Meaning all four of the King's children can transmit the title, but their cousins (children of Princess Astrid, Prince Laurent and Princess Delphine) cannot.
The sons of Princess Astrid can transmit their paternal title HIRH Archduke/Archduchess of Austria-Este to their children born from Christian marriages.
However the King's two sons and the two sons of prince Laurent can also transmit the older German titles prince of Same-Cobourg-Gotha and Duke of Saxony. Their sisters also have those titles but they inherit so far according to the old German system meaning only in the male line of consented marriages. Previous Message
Just reading from what you describe and wondering now: how is that possible that Princess Delphine Boel's son/daughter also have an HRH/Princely style but on the other hand, this styling is not allowed for the issue of the actual current heiress the Duchess of Brabant's future children nor for Princess Eleonore? Because they're the children of the current King, and not former King Albert II? How strange. Was this another law enacted that restricted the recognition of princely titles at some point between the reigns of Albert II and Philippe? Otherwise, how to account for it? So as it stands, legitimate offspring don't get a title but illegitimates can and do? How bizarre. Previous Message
Im not an expert on Belgian law, but i believe the basic principle is that the law indicates that the title of HRH prince(ss) of Belgium is granted to children and grandchildren in the line of Albert II.
The fact that Delphine was not born within a consented marriage does not alter the fact that she is Albert II's daughter. So she and her two children automatically became HRH prince(ss) of Belgium when the court ruled she was undeniably the daughter of Albert II.
I suspect that law will in time change and it will no doubt limit the title to those born of a consented marriage and might even be limited to only the children of the main line. Prince Gabriel and Emanuel numbers two and three in the current line of succession and the sons of king Philippe) would also qualify to transfer to their children the tile of Prince of Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha and duke of Saxony. Their sisters HRH the Duchess of Brabant and heiress to the throne cannot under the current laws transfer those titles and neither can the King's youngest child Princess Eleonore. Neither would the children of Princess Astrid or cousin Princess Louise though her two younger brothers could. Such a change would probably be for future generations but not for Delphine and her kids.
Im not sure how her kids will find being HRH's they might opt to not use the title and go for their father's surname and simply mr/miss to live a more private life. Previous Message
How does that work in the Belgian legal system with recognition of titles? Does the example of this case mean that some judge somewhee can in future give out titles instead of the king himself? Was there even a formal document that the king was at least asked to sign? How bizarre... Previous Message
She has no official engagements.
We don't know how private relations are, but at least she was invited to and present at the wedding of Princess Maria Laura.
She attends also the commemoration of the deceased members of the royal Family the last years.
Most Belgians nowadays don't care much about her and the media fuss went down. Previous Message
I saw that Princess Delphine was with the royal family for National Day. What exactly is her relationship with the Royal Family, both on a personal level and as an institution? I know how they're related , her being King Albert's daughter with Sybille De Sely Longchamps; but I'm wondering about her relationship with the individuals/institution of the royal family.
Is she considered a member of the RF just like King Albert and Queen Paola's other children? Does she often participate in official engagements with the royal family? Is she given her own official engagements/patronages as a royal?
How has she been received by the RF? Is she included in private gatherings of royal family members as a "member of the family", or is she more of a "bother" that the RF just feels they need to include in public for PR purposes but in private...not so much?
According to Wikipedia (yes, I know), her children are also HRH and Prince and Princess. Are Belgian royal titles inherited through both the male and female lines? If not, why are Delphine's children HRHs?
And, finally, what do the Belgian people think about her?
I apologize for all the questions, but her and her children's status and "integration" into the RF are all very confusing to me.
