If she able to change her legal surname? If so, what will she use, de Belgique, de Saxe-Cobourg et Gotha?
She is entitled to one eighth of his legacy but she herself has stated she is not interested in his money or title.
Had she wanted money it would have been more profitable to stay on good terms with mister Boell as he is wealthier than Albert and I'm not sure but as far as i know he did not have any other children.
My error she does receive a portion of his wealth.
This article says that she will inherit something -- how much depends on who dies first, Albert or Paola: http://www.flanderstoday.eu/former-king-alberts-dna-results-must-be-released-delphine-boel
There will be no financial implications, Delphine isn't getting one red-cent because everything is basically in trusts for Paola and his children by her.
I agree. I honestly do not understand why the king delayed so long. Granted, there will be financial implications for him and more to the point (given his age) for his other heirs. However, the damage to his reputation as a result of many years of persistently denying something that just about everyone knew to be the case could have been avoided. Had he cut the Gordian Knot and admitted paternity when this first arose, I doubt anyone would be thinking or talking about the matter at this point. Crazy.
Albert could have spared himself a lot of money, press attention, and stress had he admitted this early on. Just saying...
Albert has now been officially determined as the father of Delphine Boell.
The king will not oppose the results of the DNA tests. He accepts her legally as his daughter but also has stated that he never was involved in her life and respected the bond between Delphine and her former legal father.
Him being her legal father does not change the status of the Royal House. Financially she actually made a bad choice her former legal father would have left her more than her now claim of at most 25% of Albert's legacy.
Delphine herself has stated she has not done this for money but to no longer be know as the bastard daughter of the king.
Im afraid she may not have achieved her goal. Yes she is his legal daughter but in the public she remains the extra-marital daughter and that comes close to what most people would call a bastard.
It seems that she and her family had some obstructions in Belgian society (her 11 year old son had trouble opening a bank account) she hopes that will pass now.
