My impression is that between the public reporting and the text of the arrete royal is a difference.
It would be nice if the Palace explains better what was intended and what it will work. But is seems that not all implications were foreseen and therefore amendments are needed.

: Well than why would they add a part that the
: children of Elisabeth's siblings will be
: named de Saxe-Coburg-Gotha?

: I do not understand why this new move
: changes
: the things for King Philippe's grandchildren
: of his younger children. The 2015 arrete
: royal states that the children and
: grandchildren are HRH PoB.
:
: The new move is all about about the great
: grandchildren of a monarch who would be
: titleless according the 2015 arrete
: royal. They may be Princes of S-C and G or
: Monsieur/Madame de S-C et G ( if this is
: only a surname).
:
: The first one to whom this new regime
: applies is the great granddaughter of King
: Albert who is an archduchess which is not
: really a Belgium title. So she might be
: entitled to the style of Pss of S-C and G or
: Mademoiselle de S-C and G (if it is only a
: surname).
:
: For the decendents of the heiress/heir a
: special regime applies.

: I know but this new move seems one to alter
: things for the younger generation. So yes
: the children of Philippe's siblings are De
: Belgique but his own grandchildren except
: those through the Duchess of Brabant will
: not get that surname.
: The title that was opened for both the male
: and female line before has already been
: limited to children and grandchildren and
: could in future be limited even further.
: That would mean that only the children of
: the Duchess of Brabant would be HRH
: prince(ss) of Belgium with Von Belgien/de
: Belgique/Van Belgie as their surname.
: All other grandchildren as well as the (male
: line?) offspring of Laurent would be HRH
: prince(ss) of Saxony-Coburg-Gotha,
: duke/duchess of Saxony.
: At present that is not yet the case but it
: would limit the use of the Of Belgium title
: to a smaller group of individuals and at the
: same time deliver a good title and historic
: name to the other descendants of Albert II.

: Only great grandchildren are not any longer
: princes of Belgium, ggrandchildren are.. see
: arrete royale 2015

: I think Dan was correct. It's about the
: surname and not about titles.
: That does not mean that in time Belgium will
: follow the Luxembourg example where the
: national princely title is only for children
: of the main line and grandchildren of the
: main line will have to settle for HRH
: prince(ss) of Saxony-Coburg-Gotha,
: Duke/Duchess of Saxony. However that was not
: yet decreed.
: So the grandchildren of the sovereign
: through his younger children will at present
: have the style of HRH prince(ss) of Belgium
: but the surname of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha .

: other questions: often one hears that only
: the
: Duchess of Brabant can transmit the title
: Prince/ess on Belgium, but not her siblings.
: I do not really understand this statement:
:
: The 2015 arête royal states that the
: children and grandchildren of the monarch
: will be prince/ess of Belgium... In my
: understanding the offspring of the younger
: siblings o f the Princess Elisabeth will be
: Prince/ess as they are grandchildren of King
: Philippe. However, their children will not
: be longer prince/ess as they are
: great-grandchildren of King Philippe. They
: may have now either the name de
: Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha or the title
: prince/ess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
:
: The only great-grand children of King
: Philippe who will carry the title Prince/ess
: of Belgium will be the grandchildren of
: Princess Elisabeth.

: So far, I have not seen the offical decree,
: but it sounds like they are only adopting
: the surname "de Saxe-Cobourg" and
: not the titles which they relinquished in
: WWI. I would think to re-assume the titles,
: they would need the permission of the head
: of the Ducal House of SC&G.
:
: Were titles actually relinquished (according
: to the last laws of the house of Saxe-Coburg
: and Gotha, etc) or were their *use* merely
: discontinued? An important distinction!
