Im wondering if the king will take on his mother's office behind the green drawing room or if he's going to use another space.
I would love to see the blue and green drawing rooms get a full refurbishment. I never liked the washed out blue colour and hope the room will get a stronger blue and they will choose to furnish it with the gild Louis XVI furniture from the green drawing room as that would fit the style of the mantle and other decorations better. The white and gild Louis XV furniture from he blue drawing room (now in the White Hall of Noordeinde Palace) could be used in the green drawing room. The drab muddy green used in that room should never return. It would look much better if it was replaced with a much brighter fresher green. The mantle in this room is from the era of William IV and Anne of Great-Brittain so the rococo style furniture would fit here better.
It would be nice if the office behind it (used by Wilhelmina and Beatrix) would get the wall and ceiling paintings from Van der Aa now in the sitting room of the guest apartment in the right wing.
Im not sure if they are considering to move the King's office to the second floor. That would leave the main floor of the central part fully for receiving guests and it might create a nice image if you have to go up the right staircase to enter the The Hague antechamber in use with the aide de camp. than go through the central ball room/audience room into the Wassenaar antechamber and turn right into the new office for the monarch above the green drawing room and with views of the park.
However hearing His Majesty talk about loving direct access to the gardens i don't think that will happen.

: Thanks for your reply and at first (when
: viewing the interview) I also thought he
: meant the private wing, but then I read your
: review here and watched the tv-interview
: once again (yesterday) which made me start
: doubting which part of the Palace the King
: really meant. Hence my remarks here, earlier
: this morning.
: Knowing Villa Eikenhorst only had its outer
: walls still standing and the whole inside
: was totally rebuilt at the time WA &
: Maxima wanted to make it their family-home I
: got the impression they were not afraid of
: turning a place upside-down which made me
: wonder about the present renovations of HtB.
: Thanks for re-assuring me anyway

: Im assuming HM referred to the private
: (Wassenaar) wing when he spoke about their
: living quarters. The main block and
: guest/staff (The Hague) wing are being
: restored but i don't think the lay out of
: those parts of the palace will change much.
: When the private wing was renovated for
: Beatrix and Claus the lay out was changed as
: it has been changed several times since the
: wings were added in the 1730's. Beatrix used
: the paintings of Schouwman depicting the
: menagerie of Stadholder Willem V to be used
: in her private dining room. These hangings
: have been loaned to a museum and will return
: to the palace when the renovation is in a
: later stage.
