If you take away the side characters, take away Khonshu, take away the setting, and replace it with other super heroes, what's left of Moon Knight?

: When I saw the teaser image, I had a bad
: feeling they were going to turn MK into some
: kind of superhero mimic and now Bendis has
: revealed that's exactly his intent.
:
: I'm disappointed. Bendis' direction for MK
: seems really out of character, sudden and
: unprecedented. I don't expect to like it,
: but I'm on board. It couldn't be any worse
: than the second half of his 90's
: series...right?

: What bothers me most is it's as if Bendis et
: al is saying that the character of MK in
: himself is not good enough; no Khonshu,
: current personalities not enough to get a
: job done, et al. He definitely needs more
: rivalries and strong arch villains, but I
: don't know what Marvel doesn't understand
: about working with what you have. It's not
: that I'm closed to change, but it seems
: obvious that some laziness or lack of
: inspiration seems to be going on when
: writers have to dramatically reshape the
: character in order to make it seem
: exciting... Spidey did well in the 90's
: (Clone Saga aside) because writers worked
: AROUND the character... Maximum Carnage,
: Death of the Vulture..etc............. now
: we get stuff like One More Day that doesn't
: work. Most Marvel characters are no
: different..... Upgrading is cool,
: downgrading can even be cool..completely
: making the character into something else and
: ignoring their strengths as lauded by fans
: is stupid..
