Back in the 50's 60's and early 70's the CITY OF LONG BEACH STREET DIVISION used wooden barricades with either 4' or 16' 2x6 boards along with the wooden A-frame legs that were 2x4 with 1x6. The early barricades were painted a floresent green then they chanced the paint color to a safety yellow. I remember if they relaced the curbs on the street they would use the 16' boards and use the 4' boards for the sidewalks. The barricade truck had a ladder rack on top with the 16' boards and the 4' boards were in the back of the truck. They had the A-Frame legs mounted upside down on a rack in the back. Behind the cab of the truck was a metal box full of the nightflasher barricade lights. On the bottom side on both sides of the truck they had 2 racks full of highway torches. I only wish I had a picture of the truck from back then. Steve.
