Glass Alladin lamp shade- How to measure ?

I have an electrified aladin lamp with the outer green glass shade that measures 9 1/2 inches diameter..is this a 10 " ? It was broken today and 'nobody' knows how it broke :-( I'm looking for a replacement..maybe white this time..
