Sunny is now over the Rainbow Bridge

I can't believe I am writing this right now. Sunny did fine at the vet and they believed it was probably a scratch. They put a drop of Cipro in his eye for us to show us how to do it and we headed home. When we took him out of the carrier to put him back in his cage, I clipped one nail that they completely bent by accident when grabbing him to administer his medication. it was all gnarled and would have caused him a problem. It took literally 10 seconds. We returned him to his cage and he seizured almost instantly. His legs got stiff, he flailed and it lasted longer than usual. Then he continued to seizure in his cage to the point I think he endured head trauma, he broke blood feathers, and it looked like he was dying. He may have been having strokes also. He was bleeding all over and barely standing and still flailing and I managed to get him back in travel cage and get back to the vet. He seizured the whole way there and it was traumatic to watch. He couldn't come back from this. We made the decision to let them sedate him and end his suffering. I think he caused such tremendous damage to himself that it would be almost impossible to come back from. I am devastated, in shock.. I feel guilty that I took him today and that I clipped that one nail... the stress was too much for him. I can not believe my beautiful Sunny is over the rainbow. I am so sorry he had to suffer like that and get so hurt. All I wanted to do was cuddle him and calm him, but his seizures were so aggressive, I would not have been able to stop them. Thank you all for how much you loved him and our posts.
