I loved to go and spend the weekend with Mary Lou at the camp. One of our favorite things (and probably weren't supposed to be doing at all) was to walk the big pipe suspended over the Pecos. We sometimes sat in the middle and swung our feet back and forth. We were both good swimmers at least!! I was in the class of l954. We moved to McCamey when I was in 3rd grade and lived on Annis ST. About l949 my folks bought the old Maxcey Hotel and we lived in a big apartment there. We had some good Sunday school parties at the Joyce home at the camp. I used to envy the kids who lived in any of the camps, as there were usually quite a few who rode the bus in together.
Mary Lou had one older brother that I knew, but I don't remember his name.
I guess they sometimes wished they lived in town and could walk to school. McCamey was a wonderful place to live grow up.
