It is surely an egregious sporting miscarriage of justice that Everton have been in the top flight longer than Liverpool, United, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Leeds, Villa, Sunderland and a host of other bigger clubs.
I remember their fans boasting, not long ago, that they were one of the 'Big 5'.
I would not put them in the top 15 at present.
And let us not forget the dodgy goals that kept them up against Hans Segers about 30 years ago. I could have saved them blindfolded, but Hans had his attention distracted, allegedly, M'Lud, by the fat brown envelope under his peg in the dressing room.
And, of course, we can do without the constant whinging that Scousers seem to be born with.
Try crossing Stanley Park unmolested while wearing your own team's colours, see how far you get.
I hope that they go down, maybe a couple of seasons in the lower depths would teach them a bit of humility, although I doubt it.
If that scenario were to come to fruition, how many would they be able to attract to their (as yet unpaid for) super Dockside stadium while hosting the likes of Rotherham and their ilk.
Long may EP be the closest League ground to the Mersey!
