During the season so far, I have been concerned about DCs demeanour. His touchline presence, post and pre-match interviews, suggest to me that he is not comfortable with his role and that he appears to have lost his enthusiasm and optermisium that propelled us into the EFL. I think this outlook has transferred onto the players, having listened to the match commentary on Radio Manchester, co-commentator Michael Rose suggested that second half there was a lack of passion and spirit by some of the players. The pre-season recruitment on paper was competent but an overload of midfielders
has resulted in a disjointed and unsettled team selection. (I do not subscribe to interference by the DoF. His job is to facilitate the wishes of the manager, who makes the case for recruitment to the DoF whose job is to then make it happen.) This coupled with a loss of form from AS and PM and a shocking disciplinary record, has brought us upfront with referees and made us an easy target to wind up by the opposition. Given the resources of staff and the magnificent training facility, I wonder what we do in training? There is a lack in some of basic skills, slow in thought and speed, corner kicks and dead ball situations are poor and we even got penalised for a throw-in on Saturday. Substitutions are late and somewhat perplexing. The introduction of MH on Saturday seemed to galvanise for the brief time he was on the pitch but doesn't seem to suit DC for a regular spot.
I wonder if the expectations and drive of MS has got to DC and as a consequence he is feeling out of his depth. The criticisms of named players would seem to reinforce a form of siege mentality.
I would not be surprise to hear an announcement from the board confirming the future of DC
