NHS is brilliant but underfunded…I suffered a stroke a couple of months ago, realising what it was (2 previous ones) I phoned an ambulance straight away…it turned up three and a half hours later. The two paramedics asked me what was wrong and I said I’m pretty certain I’ve had a stroke to which they replied we don’t think so…but took me to Stepping Hill anyway. On getting out of the ambulance I heard the paramedic say to a nurse “He thinks he’s had a stroke, but he hasn’t” to which I was shoved in a waiting room for around 5 hours before the doctor saw me. I told him what had happened and he immediately sent me in another ambulance (blues & two’s this time ) …to Salford Royal’s stroke unit which I was eventually diagnosed with (no sh*t!)…a stroke. It’s not particularly the staff but massive underfunding that’s to blame. Fortunately I don’t think that it made much difference…but they certainly didn’t know that!
