Otherwise you have to wait five years before you can claim to adapt the name and history, which at that point is it any different from Bury AFC? Plenty of Darlington fans reckon on hindsight that is just wasted money, whilst others wanted to preserve the legacy of the team their fathers and grandfathers supported. Also, some dreamers at Bury FC reckon they’ll go straight into the National League next season, to which there is more chance of finding of finding Peppa Pig up Boris Johnson’s arsehole (oh hang on, wait a minute….).
