As I recall, the owners were a group and all the members rather than a single or couple of owners.
It was proposed for them to sell up and move out but they wanted a new facility building nearby to match the existing building and costs would have been over £1 million (2007 IIRC)
It had a few other stipulations which were complicated to say the least.
If a new Railway End was developed, there could be facilities for classrooms and facilities for a wide range of uses for the community which could then attract council and govt backing. Can’t recall the exact details but it did sound like a viable plan.
It’s been a long time since those ideas were discussed and my memory isn’t what it used to be.
