My favorite local Country radio station (KFKF) did a short tribute to Jim Reeves this morning and then played "He'll Have To Go". Unfortunately, right before that they played some garbage by Luke Bryan that had some Rap in it. It was a very stark contrast but the contrast certainly put Luke Bryan in a bad light when compared to real singing.

You're lucky Ron. My local country radio station didn't play anything or mention Jim. I called them up and requested He'll Have to Go and the person who answered said Jim who? After I explained who Jim was I was told they can't play that type of country music it has to be current artists. If they played older country they could be in trouble. I looked up Luke Byran on Wikipedia and they list his music as bro-country and pop. I guess that's the kind of crap the record companies are forcing down our throats.

You need to get Sirius/XM satellite radio and once you have it in your car you can also stream it in your home. It's a very reasonable fee per month and they have lots of channels, including "Willie's Roadhouse" based on Willie Nelson, and "Outlaw Country." The deejays play all the older country music and do a good job of it. They play A LOT of Jim Reeves on Willie's channel.
I guess I'm biased because when my book on Jim came out, Dallas Wayne talked about it every day for at least a month. He read every page and then on his show would describe what he read. I could not have paid for free publicity like that, and the truth is I have never had any contact with the man, either directly or indirectly! He is just that big of a fan of Jim's that he wanted to share not only Reeves's music with his listeners, but also details of his life as gleaned from my book.
I seldom listen to over-the-air radio due to the restricted playlists that are programmed by the giant record labels in collusion with mega corporations who own thousands of radio stations and thereby control what Americans hear. The FCC was reorganized and did away with limits that had protected freedom of the airwaves since the 1930s. When that happened, a handful of powerful people snatched up U.S. radio stations and turned them into propaganda outlets for their political views and also made deals with the major labels. (That used to be called "payola" and there was a big scandal about it years ago, but as you've noticed, ethics everywhere have declined).
Foreign stations, however, are much better at giving the listeners what they really want to hear. There is MUCH more diversity and even culture on foreign radio. But not in America, sad to say.
I have Sirius/XM in my car and I think it's great. Didn't know I could stream it in my house have to try it. I know they play a lot of Jim on there. I heard a song on Willie's Road House by Heather Myles titled "Nashville's Gone Hollywood". Every line in that song is true. By the way I wasn't surprised by what my local radio station told me. Some time ago I requested a Party Loveless song and was told her music doesn't fit their agenda. What ever that means.
KFKF has added more Country classics into their rotation, which is great. Right after playing "He'll Have To Go", they played a bit of the Brenda Lee song "I'm Sorry" and the dj made the comment if he had played any more, he would get in trouble for playing more "classics" than he should. Although it was known under different call letters at the time (KCKN), it was for a dj from this radio station that brought Patsy Cline to Kansas City in order to play a benefit for the dj's family after he was killed ("Cactus Jack" Call).
