I too keep reading that it will be shorter and more low key than the last Coronation. However, this past week has shown that there is still an appetite for royal ritual and ceremony in Britain. I would think that King Charles would not want to dispense with the Crown of St. Edward, given his love of tradition. I think they will have to modify the Imperial State Crown. Queen Camilla could be crowned with the same crown that was made for Queen Elizabeth for the 1937 Coronation.
I hope it's not too soon to talk about the Coronation of King Charles III.
I heard that this will be more low key than his mother's coronation.
With that in mind I have some questions...
1. Do you think the gold State Coach of George III will be used? I hear it's a rather bumpy ride and that might be too much for the King who will be 74 by then.
2. Because of his age do you think the Crown of St. Edward may be too large and he'll use the Imperial State Crown instead?
3. Speaking of the Imperial State Crown....for George VI the arches were higher and then lowered to make it more feminine for Queen Elizabeth II...that is what I read. Do you think the Imperial State Crown will be modified for the King other than size?
4. What crown will be used for Queen Camilla?
Love to hear your thoughts!
