One problem with that interpretation is that she doesn't go by Kate, she prefers Catherine. Which I can understand very well. And a lot of women are very happy to use their married name. It's not a loss of identity, it's a sign of unity and joy for many. Previous Message Previous Message I too hope that the "Kate Middleton" business will be over with, and that we will be reading about the Princess of Wales from now on. It is good to remember that references to her in the press as "Kate Middleton" also enhanced her likability and relatability as a regular young woman. I never saw the Kate M thing as intentionally demeaning her or suggesting she was not worthy of being a royal. Calling her Kate M also reflects the growing trend whereby women maintain their own identity after marriage.
