for people who are on the outlaw, i have this question. what was the dive plan? isnt 115ft a little deep for a single tank? did he have a penetration line? low viz, no wreckage, sandy bottom, you might think a penetration line would have been used so people can find their way back to the anchor line. Diving for only three years, it seems this man should have had a partner. 115ft is deep for a basic certified scuba diver. I'm not putting Chris down, What i am doing is bringing attention to the entire operation, not just the outlaw. Boats become complacent, NAUI policy goes out the window and people get hurt. As more information becomes available we are finding out that this might have been preventable. NO DIVE CHARTER SHOULD LET A BASIC QUALIFIED SCUBA DIVER OR SOMEONE WITH LESS THAN 100 NJ WRECK DIVES DIVE ALONE AND BEYOND 80FT. ANYONE DIVING OVER 100FT SHOULD DIVE WITH DOUBLES. OUTLAW, PRAY THAT THIS MAN HAD A HEART ATTACK AND THEY FIND HIM. BECAUSE OTHERWISE, YOU BETTER GET A GOOD LAWYER, NO WAIVERS ARE GOING TO HELP YOU WITH THIS. REVIEW NAUI AND PADI POLICIES AND THIS IS COMPLETELY OUTSIDE OF EITHER AGENCIES PHILOSOPHY. AND MO, I'VE BEEN DIVING SINCE 1988, GRADUATED FROM DIVERS ACADEMY CAMDEN IN 89, (2000 PLUS OF THE COAST OF NJ AND NY) SO I THINK I HAVE A LITTLE EXPERIENCE TO COMMENT HERE. My prayers are with Chris and his family. for the rest reading this, learn, take heed, and think twice about diving beyond your skills.
