Braganza descendants' intermarriages
Well, it's interesting to note that Princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma, who became the last empress of Austria-Hungary, was a second cousin of Infanta Maria Ana of Portugal, since her mother (Infanta Antonia) was a first cousin of Queen Maria II. Maria Ana's daughter, Princess Maria Josepha of Saxony, married Archduke Otto of Austria and became the mother of Blessed Karl, the last emperor. So the husband, despite being five years the senior of his wife, was technically two generations below -- being her second cousin, twice removed. But this is no surprise, since Miguel fathered Antonia at the age of 60, and Antonia gave birth to Zita in 1892. Meanwhile his niece (born in 1819) gave birth to her elder surviving daughter in 1843; she, in turn, gave birth to Karl's mother in 1867. As it was, Karl was born in 1887.
