I didn't use the word monarchy, but kingdom. My point is that when India became independant, the British King was no longer Emperor of India. But India became a Kingdom with George VI as King of India. Previous Message I don't mean to be pedantic, Robert, but is actually impossible for India not to have been a monarchy before it became a republic. So what was your point?
