So it all depends on what legal entity you're talking about.
In the UK the child born out of wedlock can never inherit titles of it's father even if the parents were single at the time of it's birth and later marry. In France that is different. So when you state legally it all depends on the country you're talking about. I suppose you mean in Belgium. Even if in Belgium the legal distinction no longer exists the public sentiment still makes a vast difference between children born of a Royal Marriage and a child born outside of that marriage from an extra marital affair.
The distinction does not even exist legally any more. It's very antiquated, irrelevant, and of course highly offensive!
