Albert could have spared himself a lot of money, press attention, and stress had he admitted this early on. Just saying...
Albert has now been officially determined as the father of Delphine Boell.
The king will not oppose the results of the DNA tests. He accepts her legally as his daughter but also has stated that he never was involved in her life and respected the bond between Delphine and her former legal father.
Him being her legal father does not change the status of the Royal House. Financially she actually made a bad choice her former legal father would have left her more than her now claim of at most 25% of Albert's legacy.
Delphine herself has stated she has not done this for money but to no longer be know as the bastard daughter of the king.
Im afraid she may not have achieved her goal. Yes she is his legal daughter but in the public she remains the extra-marital daughter and that comes close to what most people would call a bastard.
It seems that she and her family had some obstructions in Belgian society (her 11 year old son had trouble opening a bank account) she hopes that will pass now.
