It still is perfectly possible that there are Shell shares in the one of those trust funds or own outright by his mother and/or her sisters.
At the same time in his biography on Wilhelmina Fasseur did some research on her finances and there were no Oil shares mentioned. Part of the fortune Wilhelmina inherited was from the lucrative investments of her uncle Prince Hendrik the sailor. She also had the reputation of being rather frugal.
The commission that introduced the current system of financing the monarchy researched in the 1950's that Queen Juliana had to dip into her own bank accounts to pay for the monarchy and she was doing so at a rate that was reducing the funds. Wilhelmina and Juliana sold many of the residences they had inherited.
Kneuterdijk Palace, Lange Voorhout Palace both in The Hague. The stadholderly court in Leeuwarden and Soestdijk Palace in Baarn all went from private to public ownership.
Where the younger daughters of Queen Juliana still lived in quite grand houses the younger brother of King Willem-Alexander lives in a nice but in no way grand 1930's house in The Hague.
Where i don't think there is any need for feeling pity for any of Juliana's descendants' financial status im not sure they are as well off as sometimes suggested.
The second son of Princess Margriet has managed to make a fortune with the company he is one of the owners of. The King and Queen have their state incomes but also need to provide funds for their two younger daughters' future.
Beatrix probably has added to the family fortune by her extensive collection of modern art. Though those purchases were never made as an investment but because of her love for the arts they have turned out good investments.
The members of the Orange-Nassau have not married into wealthy families since the 19th century.
From Queen Emma onwards the men and women that married into the family generally were not wealthy on their own.

: Yesterday a Duch news-paper mentioned an
: official denial by the Dutch Royal House
: stating King Willem-Alexander has no shares
: in Royal Shell.
: This was a follow-up of questions being
: raised in Dutch parliament about the
: involvement of the royals in the company.
: For those who follow this Board and are
: non-Dutch: there is much commotion in the
: Netherlands about all the damage caused by
: the activities of the NAM which, for
: decades, has been exploiting the gas
: reserves in the northern parts of the
: Netherlands. In the past few years those
: northern parts have suffered much from
: earthquakes, which all were caused by the
: aforenamed activities by the NAM (owned by
: Shell!).
:
: The Dutch government has been rather
: reluctant in acknowledging cause &
: effects (=financial compensations!)
: It is therefore very (v.e.r.y.!) remarkable
: that the Dutch Court now, all of a sudden,
: has issued a statement saying the King has
: no shares in Shell.
: To be frank: the statement does not say
: which other members of the RF have shares in
: Shell, although it is known Princess Irene
: has (for decades!) fought against the way
: Shell exploits areas in Africa (oil!).
: Anyway...the statement by the RVD is an
: interesting one and will surely be used in
: parliament when discussing the million
: $claims from the people in the northern
: parts of the Nerlands whose homes have been
: damaged!
