Recently I read that, at the time of WWI, Wilhelmina's husband was torn between the country of his birth and his adopted country (which remained neutral during WWI!) and he even seemed to still have had the German nationality!
Which I find rather surprising and makes me wonder how many Dutch royal consorts were allowed to maintain the nationality of their birthcountry, despite being married on 'the highest level' in another country so to speak.
