To meet for a 10.30am start for a walk around the historic town of Suffolk to try and find as many wild plants that may still be in flower at this time of year. The walk will take in some varied habitats of parkland, dockland and townscape and incorporate some of the town’s rich history.
To meet on the outskirts of Holywells Park on Nacton Road.
Drive along the A12 towards Felixstowe and over the Orwell Bridge. Take the first exit signed to Ipswich. At the bottom of the slip road turn left ; at the large roundabout take the 2nd exit still following in towards the town centre. You’ll pass a couple of schools on your right-hand side and when you come to the fiveways crossroad involving Clapgate Lane to your left and Levington Road to your right, slow down and park on the left before the park which has a high stone wall. On your right will be Alan Road and Salisbury Road.
Bring a packed lunch and dress appropriately for any vagaries in the weather.
