I wonder how much water each of those beds is using? You can calculate this easily. When you bought the tape it would have specified it's flow rate, usually in gpm/100'. Multiply that by how many 100's of feet you have and you will know how much each bed is using.
If you are going to run the 1.50" all the way from the hydrant I am sure we can come up with the appropriate fittings to connect from the layflat to the 0.75" line. It will take a few fittings to do so. What would help would be for someone to make a drawing of the area and send it in to us. Nothing too fancy. Fax is 269-429-6669. : I was hoping to get advice about attaching
: layflat hose as a mainline for a drip
: irrigation system that is already in place.
: We have a 1.5-acre, flat, urban site on
: which we are growing vegetables in raised
: beds - about 36,000 sqft of growing space
: divided among 15 beds.
: We get our water from two fire hydrants
: across the street using special caps with
: GHT adapters. We run garden hoses across the
: street into our site each time we want to
: run the water.
: At the "top" of each bed, we
: already have a 3/4" mainline for each
: bed, with drip tape attached by barbs to
: that mainline. To run the system, we attach
: regular 3/4" garden hose to the end of
: each of the mainlines. So on a hot, dry day,
: we might attach 5 different hoses to 5
: different beds in the morning, switch to 5
: other beds half way through the day, and
: move all the hoses once again to 5 more beds
: by the end of the day to get all the beds
: watered. (We probably wouldn't water all the
: beds in one day, usually, but that's just a
: way of explaining how much we have to move
: I would like to simplify our lives and move
: hoses less by using 1-1/2" layflat hose
: as an overall mainline leading from one
: hydrant to half the beds, and another from
: the other hydrant to the other half of the
: beds. I just need to figure out how to
: attach the 3/4" black tubing/mainline
: on each of the beds to the master layflat
: mainline. Right now the attachments we have
: are 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread). Are
: there insert fittings (LASCO brand?) that
: adapt from 1-1/2" insert fittings to
: 3/4" GHT?
: Would I get the best results if I submitted
: the "Need a System Designed"
: questionnaire? I did not do that at first
: because I don't need the whole system
: designed, just the layflat part.
