Link: Melbourne 1964 ARTCRAFT LAMPS
I have been updating my Photobucket site with photos of road danger (roadworks) lamps both kerosene and battery operated, my collection pales into insignificance compared to Steve Hillyer's collection, congratulations Steve on your fantastic collection and the movie that you made.
I have successfully found some original patents for road danger lamps that I have included on my Photobucket site as well as photos of lamps in use in Melbourne Australia from 1958 - 1966. Included in the patents are the original Artcraft flashing kerosene ones and the very first Kenyons patents in England. I did not realise that the first dedicated road danger lamp patent was by William Kenyon in 1905 which set the pattern for the next 70 years!
A site that I have come across that may be of interest to many is an English WEB site that collects all things associated with roadworks. The site contains an original Kenyons advertising brochure but also has many original and informative brochures for such things as Aveling Barford road rollers!
